The field of artificial intelligence is widely considered to have been born at the Dartmouth Conference in the summer of 1956. Organized by John McCarthy, Marvin Minsky, Nathaniel Rochester, and Claude Shannon, this event brought together a group of researchers who proposed that ’every aspect of learning or any other feature of intelligence can in principle be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it.’ This bold vision laid the groundwork for future AI research.
